Im März 2025 hatte ich die Möglichkeit, nach Nepal zu reisen und neben der Hauptstadt das Gebiet des Langtang Nationalparks zu erkunden. Dieses Gebiet war beim großen Erdbeben im Jahr 2015 stark betroffen und die Auswirkungen davon sind auch nach zehn Jahren noch deutlich im ganzen Land zu sehen und zu spüren.

Vor allem in der Millionenstadt Kathmandu sind Szenen der absoluten Armut Alltag. Trotz boomendem Tourismus und medialer Bekanntheit gilt Nepal weiterhin als eines der ärmsten Länder Asiens.

Aus diesen Gedanken ist ein Bildband im Magazinformat für den guten Zweck entstanden. Während meiner Reise versuchte ich, die Schönheit und Vielfalt dieses Landes festzuhalten, und schon vor Ort setzte ich mir das Ziel, mit meinen Bildern etwas Sinnvolles zu erreichen.

In March 2025, I had the opportunity to travel to Nepal and explore not only the capital but also the Langtang National Park area. That region was severely affected by the major earthquake in 2015, and even ten years on, the effects are still clearly visible and felt throughout the country.

In Kathmandu, a city of over a million people, scenes of extreme poverty are an everyday reality. Despite booming tourism and media attention, Nepal is still considered one of the poorest countries in Asia.

These reflections led to the creation of a magazine-style photo book for a good cause. During my trip, I tried to capture the beauty and diversity of this country, and even whilst I was there, I set myself the goal of using my photographs to achieve something meaningful.

Der Erlös dieses Projekts wurde vollständig an den Verein Weltweitwandern Wirkt! gespendet und für Bildungsprojekte in Nepal verwendet. In der Nähe von Kathmandu unterstützt der Verein seit vielen Jahren ein Waisenhaus – das sogenannte "Bottle House" –, das nach dem Erdbeben 2015 wieder aufgebaut wurde. Daneben entstand auch eine Schule, die heute über 400 Kindern Zugang zu Bildung ermöglicht. Auch in Hile, einer ländlichen Region im Osten Nepals, wurde eine durch das Erdbeben zerstörte Schule wiedererrichtet. Zusätzlich entstand dort ein Community Center, das Bildungsangebote für Kinder, Jugendliche und Erwachsene bereitstellt.

All proceeds from this project were donated in full to the charity Weltweitwandern Wirkt! and used to fund educational projects in Nepal. Near Kathmandu, the charity has been supporting an orphanage – known as the 'Bottle House' – for many years; this was rebuilt following the 2015 earthquake. A school was also established there, which today provides access to education for over 400 children. In Hile, a rural region in eastern Nepal, a school destroyed by the earthquake has also been rebuilt. A community centre has also been established there, providing educational opportunities for children, young people and adults.
